Excerpt from Chapter 2
The New Way of Weight Loss
“People who adopt the weight loss paradigm based on recovery from addiction and abstinence from sugar and starch are finding remarkable success, even when traditional dieting has failed.
Why is that? The answer seems to be that diet and exercise address the wrong problems. It’s not that we’re so profoundly gluttonous or lazy. Rather, the problem is we are biologically vulnerable and at the same time, misinformed about the true dangers of certain so-called staples.
To put it bluntly, too many of us are naturally sensitive and artificially addicted. Until we can wrap our heads around that fact, no amount of dieting, exercising or 'Let’s Move!' types of public health programs will make a real dent in our national health and obesity crises.”
